November Raffle Results

Raffle was held last November 8th at SDA campus with lucky Ms. Encar Castillo winning the 1st prize, 3rd prize and another consolation prize while one Batch ’83 member winning the water dispenser. There were more prizes but don’t have the details of winners.

As I was told, Mrs. Castillo sold the most tickets. Although ticket sales were less than expected, it was considered still a success.

On a side note, SDA Alumni Association is now in the process of SEC-registration. Hopefully by the end of this year, the application is approved making it possible to open an official bank account under the association’s registered name.

So many questions...

I haven’t heard much news lately regarding the preparation for the coming 2010 Town Fiesta. All I know so far is that raffle tickets are on sale to generate funds for this purpose. Batch ’78 has already sold most raffle tickets they are responsible for.

In case you didn’t know, every batch was assigned tickets to sell so if you are interested to help and win prizes as well; of course you have to buy. So please contact your batch representatives.

Meanwhile, I wonder how else the Fiesta Committee can generate more funds to support this anticipated event. I am sure a lot of us would want to help by donating cash...

...but how?

Is there a bank account we can remit the money directly? Who should I make the checks payable to? If I have cash in my wallet, who should I hand it over to? Do I get a receipt to acknowledge my donations?

Oh a lot of questions I am afraid I don’t have the answers. Do you know the answer to any of them?

Anyone?

Result of April 19th, 2009 Meeting

Here’s a picture of some of the 15 attendees from the meeting held last April 19th, 2009.

Standing from left: Rey Aguirre( Class of 1968), Feliciano J Bundoc(1968), Rosario M San Andres(1983), Josephine B Espiritu(1982), Encarnacion P Castillo(1964), and J C Reyes(1968).

Sitting from left: Clarita A Melebo(1976), Sister Wilma(current SDA Principal), Clara M Morales(1967), and Digna R Rueda(1971).

Attendees not in the picture were: Felix S Navarro(1964), Minerva G Fajardo(1978), Edgardo David(1978), Ma Rebbie R Buendia(1982), and Rachel DJ Fernandez(1983).

The group discussed current issues and challenges facing the Alumni. In particular is the effort of having the group's bylaws(originally drafted by the late Atty. Alto) formalized and the Association officially registered thru Security and Exchange Commissions (SEC).

Current elected officers are challenged and tasked to lead in this effort. Prior to the meeting, Eva from Batch 78 took the initial step by logging into the SEC website and reserved the name “St. Dominic Academy General Alumni Association’.

Also discussed are ways we can improve communications between alumni members, raise public awareness of the Association’s presence, and possible outreach programs for the community.

Ideas and concerns were also raised regarding the annual reunion held every December. Ideally we would want a more structured planning with the Alumni officers overseeing the entire operation making sure it is in line with the traditional event program planning where everyone is a part of and not just the host batches showcasing theirs individually.

Date of next meeting is yet to be determined.

Special thanks to Ms. Encar Castillo for bringing in SEC forms and of course lunch for everyone.
